Panther Triple Clutch

I got a virgin female panther in June. She was 18 months old.
I bred her on Sept 25th. She laid clutch one on Nov 19th. Last week she laid again. Just this morning I heard scratching in her cage, I couldn't find her. Looking closer, it appears as though she is going to lay again.

I've heard of double clutching, but three times? I guess she's stored sperm but good.

Any thoughts?

My third clutch is hatching at this very moment. I only bred this pair one time. Actually, the second clutch is just finishing being hatched so I have 2 clutches hatching at once. And my number of eggs were....38 in clutch 1, 29 in clutch 2, and 43 in clutch 3.

I've never heard of a female being able to produce a clutch in less than a week. If she laid one last week, I don't think she would be laying a third so soon. But yes, they can lay three clutches from one mating.

true, however she may still have an egg or three retained that didn’t come out last week. if the OP knows how to palpate, you should be easily able to tell if there’s more eggs in there.

Oh duh! I didnt even think about retained eggs. That makes sense. Either way, its probably not a third clutch this early though.

She didn't get them all out last week. So it's a double clutch with 3 lays. She laid 17 eggs. She's pretty flat, there is nothing left inside....except for a large number of silk worms, and a horn worm. She was hungry.

one of my female carpet chameleons is quite bizarre—she’s mated several times with the same male, but after a few initial “normal” clutches, now she just has been laying 1-3 eggs q 4-8 weeks that all still seem fertile at this point. i will often palpate her and feel just the few eggs, and she nests normally and lays them. at this point it’s happened about 5-6x and the last time they were together was well over 6 months ago.

chams. just when you think you know a little about them...
