Panther Shed Question from Newbie

I am a new cham owner. Picked up the Panther Cham Ambanja mix 1yr. old (if guy was honest) on the classifieds here in 1st week of August.
Cham is doing great but it did do a total body shed on 8-18-09. Normal shed. Skin exploded off and finished in a couple hours.
Now starting a week ago I noticed that it looked like the eye tourettes were going to shed. They actually did start to shed two days ago. Yesterday though, just his casque and face and the very top of his back is shedding.
I increased the mister to run for 1 min. every hour and sprayed him twice yesterday and once today in addition.
He eats and drinks normal.
I read on the forums that partial sheds can be normal? It just freeked me out.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I like zoomed reptisafe water conditioner. It claims to aid in shedding and when misted my chams. seem to shed in a day no problem.

Older chams tend to shed more slowly. Thaxter (panther) would do whole body shed when young and growing, but as he neared adult size (probably around one year, like yours), he would take a few days to shed. Now (he's four) he'll shed in patches - the feet at one time, then wait a couple weeks, then maybe the end of the tail and the the right flank, then maybe the head at a different time.

if its a shed due to growth , your fine... be sure its not from a basking temp thats too high.

Panther shed question for newbie

Yes I too use Repti safe for my spray bottle and for the little dripper. I use reverse osmosis for the mister. He has some shed left this morning. Some still around eyes. His basking temp at the branch level is 89 degrees with a zoo med 75 watt basking spot light.
And yes that was my first thought was OMG is he burned but no it is a shed, not a burn. But at what temp do you guys think his basking site should be now for his age? Temp measured with a digital probe. His home is 42" tall by 3' width and depth, open top, and sides except for the back and bottom are solid with laminate flooring and a predrilled area for water drainage. Average room temp is 75 to 78 through out the day and at night it drops to 68 degrees. Will be more stable once heat is turned on. I live in WI.

For an adult male panther, aim for a daytime basking spot up to max 90F/32C
day cooler spot / ambient range 70-80F /21 -26C
night to a low of 65F/18C (so with 68F at night, you do not need to turn the heat on)

Panther shed question for newbie

So when you measure your basking temp. is the 89 degrees at the branch or a little higher up where cham's head and back would actually be basking?
