Panther chameleon

Well, a panther chameleon setup cost varies. I paid about 450 bucks for my first setup which includes a mistking($200), cage, lighting, supplements, digital thermometer and hygrometer, etc ($250). However you can do things to save money like build your own cage. You can also keep your chams outdoors if you live in the right temps which eliminates lighting costs. One other way to save money is to mist manually rather than spending a few hundred bucks on a system. Hope this helps:eek:

Below is a rough cost break down without the price of the actual chameleon, which can go anywhere from $125-300 and more for a panther baby.

Cage - baby/juvie cage - ~$40-60 / adult cage - $80-100
Reptisun 5.0 (for UVB lighting) - ~$20-30
Fluorescent Light Hood - $9 at home depot
Household bulb and dome for hot spot - $10-20
Something to mist with - $10-20 pump sprayer / $100-200 for professional misting system
Plants - $20-50, depending on type and how many.
Supplements (calcium w/o D3, calcium w D3, and multivitamin) - ~$15-20
Food (bulk insects) - $10-60 a month or so. Depending what and how often you get them. Buying insects in bulk seems more expensive but it's soooo much cheaper if you do the math. 24 crickets at petsmart for $4 or 1000 for $14 + $10 shipping online.

There are other odds and ends you need that will add to the cost (like housing for the bugs in plastic storage bins, and their food since they need to eat fresh fruits and veggies to provide more nutricional value to your chameleon), but that's a decent guide.

Cost...

I just got my Cham and when I got everything for my set up I purchased a set up deal from the breeder and that was great but until I added things on my cost including the Cham (paid $250 for my Cham) I'd guess I have close to $1,000 in it by now... so minus the cost of my Wilson I have about $750 in it!

Hey my juvi set-up cost $200 for lights, cage, supplements, and other supplies bought some real plants for 20$. Then i built my own big cage 24x36x48 out of wood and actual screen which cost me about $70.
