Panther Chameleon Eggs

Hey guys my name is Mike. I have a quick question for anyone who can help me. I have a pair of panthers and for a few days the female was in view of the male, after i built a proper divider to block all view i noticed the female getting a little heavier and showing receptive colors. I figured she had started to ovulate so I paired them up and had a successful copulation between the two. Eventually she laid 26 eggs which i put into the juragon pro incubator at 76 degrees with 80% humidity. they have been in incubation for about 21 days and the eggs look great, nice and firm and getting a little bigger, they only problem is when candle lit i dont see any veins or signs of an embryo. are they all infertile? did i breed to late into egg development? any help would be great.

Dont mess with them and just let them do what they are going to do! You start to candle all of them that will decrease the chances of a successful clutch. Time will tell you.

I know it is hard not to candle them as you want to see how the eggs are doing. As Cain said, leave them alone.

Also usually infertiles go bad within the first couple weeks. If they are nice sized and white they are usually fertile. Infertiles, at least in my experience, are usually an off-white yellowish color and much softer than a fertile egg after the first 48hrs once the fertile once start to harden up. They mold over and deflate very quickly most of the time.

I think the answer you're looking for is this: panther eggs are laid very early into development, hence the very short gestation time. I've had 21 days from copulation to fertile clutch laying. The first phase during incubation does not have a lot of development. The eggs then go through a diapause that correlates to a Malagasy winter when development virtually ceases. After coming out of the diapause period they will begin rapid development at which time you'll be most likely to see signs of something happening when candling. So, at best, you're probably looking at 3+ months. Sorry, you're just gonna have to wait.

hey thanks so much everyone for your info. i appreciate it all. i only candled them twice so far without removing them from the vermiculite. but yeah im jus gonna let them be and wait it out. thanks again everyone!!
