I have a female Jackson and i know they are from the mountains so I was wondering if I could keep her outside. I live in Southern California and it gets about 50F at night in the winter. If anyone could help Thank You.
I live probably 5 to 10 minutes away from you.
I have several Jacksons living outside. At this time of the year, place the cage where the cham get get the first morning sun rays. This allows them to warm up. They don't eat much at this time of the year, but their eating picks up as it warms up.
In the summer, the cages would need to be put in a shaded area. You will also need misters which can be put on for long periods of time to keep them cool.
Mine are acclimated to live outside. If you have yours in your house, they will need to be acclimated slowly. Our temperatures are really supposed to cool down starting today with a week of rain coming up. So this may not be the best time to acclimate her to being outside. Wait until it warms up a bit. The weather we have been having for the last few weeks are great for them.
Feel free to PM me with any questions.
