Does anyone know if all moths, flies and boxselder bugs are ok? I live in Minnesota and none of these would be the same species from down south. For my veil.

In my opinion, avoid red-yellow-black colored bugs! They are all poisonous, at least for the smaller predators, like a cham.
A moths and butterflyes are ok, since the dont eat any toxic plant when adults, but again, aviod red/yellow/black colour combinations! I vouldn't feed boxelder bugs at all... but lets see what others say.:)

I dont know of any toxic moths. But stay away from monarch butterflies they are toxic. Never heard of a boxelder bug before??? Is that a beetle or what? I give my crew mostly grasshoppers and katydids and occasionally a dragonfly or two.

Another question. Doing research I haven't found a clear answer about how much to feed the baby veil I am getting soon. I have seen don't over feed if they grow to fast the can get mbd. Then I saw that feed them as much as they want. How many worms, crickets, daily. Three times or recommendation.

Thanks,

most adult moths do not actually eat they just look for mates so most adult moths will be ok but i dont think they have nearly as much nutritional value as the moth larva. I would stay away from brightly coloured insects, which usually hints that they are toxic

Thanks,

When they are young you want to feed them pretty much as much as they want. I was feeding 15-20 1/4 inch crickets at 4-5 months old. My cham is doing well! Started the worms at about 6 1/2 months.

Generally i feed my juvies 10-12 crix a day. If its ff's i just throw in a large number because they will escape thru the screen.

Put an old apple or banana inside the cage and the fruit flies stay where they should.
@Chamfamlover: If you want a long living chameleon you shouldnt give it as much as it wants. Calyptratus lives in deserts, their organs aren't made for 24h food service. Most of the chameleons which are kept in captivity have adiposed organs if they are autopsied after their death. It's no problem you put in one or two fast day per weeks

Sorry not sure what you mean by "it's no problem you put in one or two fast day per weeks"

Can you use tap water if you let it set for couple days?

One or two days in the week without food for the chameleon. If you can use tab water depends on where you live and what they put inside to keep clear. In some areas it's no problem, in others it's unhealthy for your chameleon.
