Thanks Dank for posting the pics! They are awesome. That is Glittergloomgirl's(Noelle) Turqish and Julirs Nippy having some "fun". They didn't quite make the "connection" so Nip is spending the week in Orlando! I picked up my new male Nosy and will post pics tomorrow-he is a bit black from spending the day in the car! I got to meet Noelle, Chris, Dank and Liz and Liz's boyfriend! It was a great time! :)

Hey Dank,

Thanks for taking pictures of my crew ;) The pictures of my little ones are great my camera has never been able to take a picture of something so small!

LOL and thanks for the Cham Porn lol!!! Cant wait to see the movie...::giggles::

juli I promise to take good care of your little girl. She is sound alseep right now after her big adventure.

I had a great time with you all :) Thank you for coming over and hanging out! Was the first time I had seen a Mellers, they are truly amazing creatures. So sweet, for being wild caught. I loved the roach display ;)

Turkish and Nippy look beautiful together in those pictures. I really like the second picture the best, boy are they going to make some AMAZING babies!
I don't think I could get a good pic of my arms but they are TORN UP, the only place that significantly broke skin is on my palm luckily!
My boyfriend and I purchased a WC pair from Nick Mole at First Choice Reptiles, but I hear in a few weeks Mike will have some CH.
The one Dank posted is mine and is believed to be female is fully grown and prob over two years old, I just fell in love with her :):

And the one my boyfriend chose, who could be male :eek (any suggestions appreciated, better pictures coming soon).

I find it very interesting how one has predominantly white with yellow baring wile the other is mostly green, is this at all significant.
I've been showering them and they drink and alos go crazy over dubia. Early next week we'll see what the vet has to say........
It was nice seeing everyone today, I had a lot of fun!:D

In my opinion, judging by the dorsal crests, I would say you are correct about your male and female. But, they say those aspects can be misleading. The color of your female does look off. If you could, shoot a photo of her to Kristina (studiocham) on the Melleri subforum here. The gray tones are what she describes as gravid. How long have they been in country?

Our female Meller's tears up our arms, too. Our male does not. Interesting.

Thanks for your reply, we really hope to have a male and a female but wouldn't be disappointed with two females. I will try to get some better photos of them tomorrow in the sun. I just thought the gray might be stressed colors from the show but "she" seemed calm and relaxed the whole time, never flapping her lobes at me or anything like my boyfriends was :D. I think it's such a delight to watch them eat, those lobes flapping are something else. It was also interesting how the Melleri take time to chew their food from side to side unlike other species who just gobble it down.
Nick made it sound like they have been in the country for a couple of weeks, but never said anything about her possibly being gravid. I'll have Jared palpate for eggs tomorrow.

If they've only been in country a few weeks then she is likely not gravid. I don't think this is the normal time of year for females to be carrying fertilized eggs. I've been told that after they've been in North America a while they can go into breeding cycle twice a year. It may be stress, then, and her colors may not settle down for quite some time as she is acclimated to her new home. If you do take her in for a check up, your vet will no doubt know if there is a health issue related to her color. But you're probably right, just acclimation stress.

They are a lovely couple. I wish you the best. They can have health issues when they are alone, and seem to do better in pairs. Are you going to keep them together?

well judging by the amount of eggs I have been hearing about from this species, could it be that she recently laid?

Thanks for your kind words. I hope they thrive fore me. They are staying together in our largest cage that has been left open for them to free roam out onto a couple of plants. They seem to get along well, barley acknowledging one another existence. I plan on going to Oldsmar Flea Market today to pick up a couple of more plants for them, and when I come home I'll be sure to snap some more photographs! Do you use all live plants for yours?
