One cage on top of the other question?

I have a crazy question. I have already set up a brand new Exo Terra bioactive terrarium. It is 18X18X24. It already has everything set up for about 2 weeks. I have invested a good bit of money in it and I have realized it is to small for what I want to do. Do you guys think there is anyway that I can add a screen top Reptibreeze or the equivalent to the top to extend in higher? Does that sound doable? Or crazy? I guess I could try and sell the exoterra and just buy a bigger one but I was hoping for a different idea? Any thought?

Havent seen anyone stack them, but we have had several people fuse repibreezes side by side to turn them into 18x36x24.

Since you can get a 18x18 base reptibreeze, it would not be hard to diy a wood base that sets on the exo.

Technically it would be real easy:

Get yourself a 6" wide piece of 8ft composite deck board for 20 bucks. Make sure its square edge

Now here is the only hard part. You need to rip a 1" square out of it. If you have a table saw, its easy, just set it to 1" and run her through it.

Then you end up with a sub 5" 8ft board and a 1" 8ft board. Both are are water proof.

Now you just screw (cant glue composite deck reliably) the 1" in the center of the sub 5" piece.

Now cut the board down to 4 equal 45 degree cut pieces of the correct length for a good fit on the top, and screw them together.

Here is what im talking about. You just have to center the inner part so that it slides over the top of the exo and the repibreeze can sit into it.

Thanks, I don't have a lot of tools handy but maybe able to do it at work. The Exo Terra is the glass one with the screen top. I was thinking of removing the screen top and not using the bottom of the Reptibreeze type screen cage and just setting it on top - haven't figured out how to secure them together.

I think Nightanole said it well, I don’t think there is much left to say, but I will anyway! Your chameleons enclosure is more than just a space he lives in, it is his life support system! You should choose the best option for him based on your ability to provide.

On the other hand there is a certain amount of pride involved with building enclosure from scratch!
