Alright so I know some basic info on them, but I'm no expert. I just bought a Veiled Chameleon a few hours ago at Petsmart. I got a glass cage 1"x1"x3" with a mesh lid and a basking light and a UV light. I’ve got the humidity around 60-70% and the heat around 70% (I just got everything set up so it has yet to heat up) I have several fake plants in there with him and I just misted the tank with a mister. I have a few questions:

1. Does he need a night heating lamp?
2. What kind of vegetables are safe for them to eat?
3. What kind of plants are safe to put in there with him?

Thanks guys!

First of all, congrats and welcome :)

Is the tank a glass aquarium or terrarium (with top and bottom vents)? Can you post pictures?

1. No (unless your house gets absurdly cold at night)
2. They usually won't eat veggies that young, but it doesn't hurt to try. Check out Sandrachameleon's blog on gutloading (https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/75-feeder-nutrition-gutloading.html). All veggies she recommends for gutloading can be eaten directly by the cham as well.
3. Pothos, hibiscus, ficus and schefflera are the most common choices for nontoxic reptile-safe plants. Just make sure you wash the leaves off really well to get the pesticides off.

Hopefully you did not purchase a fish tank with a screen lid. If so, you will need to return that and either purchase a screen enclosure preferably or a terrarium. Aquariums are not suitable environments for chameleons to thrive in.
