Odd skin under basking light

So i was just doing a bit of trimming and sorting/cleaning in Trevor's cage. And after he was out for a while on his free range play area I changes the basking light to a higher watt. After putting him back in he went to it as he must have been slightly cold.

Why would only the area under light be brighter than the rest of his body? would this suggest the higher heat is better for him?

What is Trevor's temps under his new basking light? Do you have anymore photos of him that you can post?

Yes, what are the temps under the light? Is it only in a small area (like only a few inches wide instead of a larger, chameleon sized area) that it is that warm? Is it a spot light? Perhaps he cannot warm up his whole body under the light and is forced to sit under the one spot even though it is too warm so he is trying to regulate the temps by only turning some of his body a lighter color?
