Not enough heat?

So I recently upgraded my large reptibreeze cage to an extra large, but the heat lamp i'm using doesn't seem to be warm enough for the entire cage. Is it recommended to get 2 heat lamps? I didn't want to over heat my chameleon.

Im currently using a double dome with a powersun bulb and a bulb for night warmth.

You don't need to heat the entire cage to the same temp. Chams need a gradient of temps so they can thermoregulate themselves by moving around in the cage. The lower areas of the cage can sit at room temp assuming the room isn't too cold (low 70s is fine). Do not use any light on the cage at night. Chams have full color vision and it will keep it awake. Unless your room gets colder than 55 at night your cham won't need additional heat. They require at least a 10 degree drop in temp at night.

If you're talking about the red light bulbs, they can still see the light. It can disrupt their sleeping pattern. If you absolutely need to heat at night, you should use a ceramic heat emitter. They don't produce any light at all.

How cold is "cold"? What feels cool to you could be anything lower than your body temp. Are you using a thermometer or a thermostat in the room? Really, if the room is warmer than 55 F you do not need heat at night. Your cham will warm up each morning when it basks.

Correct. My house gets down to 59-60 in the winter.
