Hello,

I recently have done a ton of research and think I am ready to get my first Chameleon. I did my research and from what most folks say the Veiled are the best for beginners. I purchased a smaller enclosure 16X16X30 to begin This came with the lights etc. I also purchased a spray bottle and a Big dripper.

My question is since my cage is a screen open air type should I get a humidifier/fogger built to help with humidity and watering when not home during work hours? If so how often and how long should it run? Lastly Do you folks have suggestions on a drainage system for under the reptile carpet and screen? I was thinking of using a tray with couple plastic blocks to elevate the cage.

Thanks in advance

Steve

Welcome to the forums. I keep veileds and they are awesome chameleons. They have so much personality. They don't require as high humidity as some chameleons. If you mist several times a day that should keep the humidity up enough. I free range all my animals and don't know allot about drainage but if you use the search function at the top you should find allot of post about drainage. Below I'm attaching my blog for new keepers. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your little guy when you get him. BTW where do you plan to purchase him?

I have been looking around . I surely not gonna do petco or petsmart as most of those look like they are terrified of anything near the glass:( I assume from repeated 3 year olds beating on glass. I do work 8 hours a day , but I can spray before and after work with dripper running you think I should be ok? I am excited about this whole thing.:D
