Evening All,
Thought I would share the build on a new rack of cages I am building.
The goal was to get 2 levels of cages in a 8' room complete with drainage, basking lights, as well as lighting for live plants. In addition, the cages need to be able to come off the rack easily for cleaning and the rack needs to be mobile. I need a total of 6 cages for 3 pair of Meru's.
THe 2x4 rack is pretty straight forward and I am not going to share much on that.
The first issue is drainage. I could use individual drain pans for each cage, but that is a pain. So I built a large drain pan.
I lined a 1/4" sheet of plywood with plastic, waterproof paneling and then made short edges out of composite wood 1x2's. Silicone the interior edges, bolt down a wire shelving unit to lift up the cages, and there we go!
I will add some pics tomorrow on how I did the actual drains out of the bottom.
the cages are basic 16x16x30". Three fit across one 48" span.
Basking light had to get creative as I did not want a whole bunch of sperate dome lights with 6 wires and dimmers, etc. So I am using 50w halogen track lighting. Each track lighting will be controlled with a dimmer.
With all three cages and basking lights.
I will update throughout this week as I add the plant lighting as well as the bottom row of cages. In addition, each cage will need a dripper and mister.
Thanks
