My 16 yr old daughter and I are new chameleon owners. I got her a baby female veiled about 2 months ago and I will be getting a baby male tomorrow. Smeagol, the female, is doing great, she has grown quite a bit already. I'm really excited about our new arrival tomorrow. Both are from LLLReptile. Unfortunately, not many places sell chameleons in the twin cities, but have been very happy with LLL. Any pointers I can get would be greatly appreciated. Kirk

Kirk..... welcome to the forums... and the addiction. :D. . I am not new to the hobby , but just returning after a few years away. Please feel free to post any questions you have as the community here is incredibly helpful. My advice as someone who just did a few months research and got my new guys a few days ago is to read..... read again... and then read some more... :) Read everything.... you'll read varying opinions and heated debates. And take away from it what you need. Everyone does it differently. But the important thing is to find out what the requirements are and go from there. Some over do things and that's the road I like, and some are minimalist.. and that works too.... at the end of the day having healthy chameleons is the goal. I have kids too and have been involving them in the care of our animals for years , your daughter will love it! So like i said , read and read ... and post.... and feel free to pm me if there's anything I can help with although there are much more experienced keepers here that will be more than happy to help... welcome ! And enjoy

Welcome to the forums Kirk! this is a great place to learn about chameleons. I have a couple of blogs that have worked very well for me in the way that I keep panthers and veileds. Hopefully you will find them useful. The first is for for the general care of your chameleon and the second for egg laying and the laying bin for your female.

Hi Kirk, welcome to both you and your daughter. What a fantastic way to connect with your daughter. At her age it is so difficult to find common interest. She could even have her own cham forum account.

So you named her Smeagol? Expecting a little rotten one are you? I was a Tolkien fan before alot of the people on this forum were born, maybe I really am getting old.:(:(:( If I can help with her or answer any questions I am just a PM away. Welcome again
