New to forum- bamboo for perches?

Hi I'm getting my two baby panther chameleons this Friday and I was wondering if it is safe to use bamboo from outside as perches for them ?

I have found that my chameleon can't really get a good grip on it. It has to be rather small so the foot can't pretty much wrap all the way around to be safe. That's just my opinion.

What would you recommend ?
