Hi all, Well, I picked up the second pair of pygs today-would love to know what you guys think as to whether they are male and female- I thought they looked both female ( or both male- not so good) but I'm thinking the tail on the second does look longer so a male? but I have never kept them before yesterday but yesterdays pair were noticeabley different to each other
1st one

2nd one - This one is puffy-- male or female- displaying or gravid?

Anyway- love to know what you think. Yesterday pair are called Oak and Olive, These are Ash and Apple.

Great pictures! You have two females there. They don't show a different coloration when gravid like some other species so impossible to tell by color alone. I would say that the second female is gravid as she looks to be carry eggs in the last picture.

Hoo haa! If that's true I have myself a nice little group 1.3 - I put up a barrier in the middle of their 3ft viv so I could separate both pairs but maybe that can come down and they can have the whole area. I must watch the puffy one- It does shrink a bit but does remain quite round. I posed this question on another forum and aksed if you have a heavily planted viv such as mine and you have females laying , unless you see where they are digging then try and dig the eggs up- risking hurting the eggs and the viv how do you hope for offspring- Opinion was you can leave them to it and they wont cannibalise their young. I'd never stand a chance of fishing out the eggs without stripping the viv so can I leave them and hope to get babies? Cheers for your reply.

Yes, leaving the eggs in the cage to incubate and then hatch isn't a problem at all and I've had plenty hatch this way. The adults didn't pose any threats to the offspring but once I noticed a baby in the cage I would remove it and place in its own and smaller vivarium just to be safe. If you check on the cage a few times a day you might even catch the female digging/laying so you can remove them but there are times that won't happen so don't worry about those eggs as they should hatch in the cage without any issues.

Wow, that's great news, Thanks, It will be a very exciting day to see a baby cham in there, guess i'm getting a bit ahead of myself though! Many thanks again for replying and helping me.
