I just added a new pygmy to my collection, and I need to make doubley sure that I don't have 2 males. The new one is supposed to be a female. I have read so much information, and now I feel like they could both be either one, and I am so confused a frustrated.

You may not be able to tell by the picture, as they aren't very good... they both have pretty spikey dorsal crests...one of them is slim and smaller and is displaying multiple lateral stripes, but has a shorter tail... the other has a more rounded dorsal crest, more subdued colors, but a longer tail.... which signs are usually more accurate?

Will someone PLEASE take a guess at these???? I really would like to seperate them if you think they are both males....

Okay, so now my old pygmy is trying to climb glass walls to get out of the enclosure, since I added the new pygmy. It never did that before... could this be a sign they are both male?

Hey Emily,
I will post this here rather than email you because I get this question quite frequently… I just took a few pictures to help for comparison, sorry just quick cell phone shots.

#1 Male with the long tail that can almost grasp

#2 Female with a nub that just the tip can curl.

#3 Both as close as I could get with the phone in 1 hand the the chameleons in the other.

Like I said in the other email it’s hard to judge with the ridges on the back and color. Tiz gotta be tail length.
As such I think you have 2 girls!
