Hi everyone,
I recently went to a reptile show today with my sister and her boyfriend. I had decided against getting my new abanja because they only had one and they wanted quite a bit for it so I thought I'd pass this round. Well there happen to be two booths with Jacksons, well I almost bought one very spontaneously, then decided against it. The next booth though had some very healthy looking ones though. very bright colors and actively eating crickets. So long story short I got one, because he(unnamed at the moment) took a shining to me.
Later I found out this was a farm raised Jackson, it appears to be a very young adult measuring maybe 8-9 inches currently. He's a male, very bright green most of the time, he got darker in the car, I'm assuming because of the stress. He's brightened back up now that he's home.
So far he's eaten 2-3 worms and 2 crickets, but what I had noticed is that occasionally he will close both of his eyes, even though his light is on. Currently he has a coiled UVB light(I had just read though they are not ideal for chameleons), is this normal for jacksons? His behavior seems very normal, but he did have kind of a stressful day. I had noticed him closing his eyes on the way home as well.
I'm hoping this is just a reaction to the stress of all the change going on today, but I'd appreciate any input =)
PS his cage is an 18x18x30 I believe. The temperature is around 65-73, my thermometer/humidity gage is old and I really don't trust its readings, but I can remedy that later this week.
