New owner, just paranoid?

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled, female, not sure of age,I'm guessing a few months. Had her for two weeks.
Handling - daily when feeding worms.
Feeding - 7 meal worms (she seems to love the worms) and 7 crickets a day. Half meal worms in morning around 9 am, other half at night around 10pm (I work a night shift). When I try to feed her crickets by hand or with cup she ignores them. But she will eat worm from my hand almost instantly after placing it. So I've switched to letting Crickets roam through cage throughout day. Crickets eat these all in one flukers cubes for gutload.

Supplements - I dust worms and crickets with calcium w/o d3 every time. Once a week dusting in reptivite. **I ordered repashy calcium + and will be using that only, daily.
Watering - I hand mist with a misting bottle. I mist for about 2 min. Twice a day. I've only seen her drink after the night mist. Also have a little Dipper going all day long. Goes into a small bowl at bottom, and when I that overflows I have holes in bottom of cage to drain water into a container.

Fecal Description - brown and firm with a good.. white part (whatever that's called). I clean up as soon as I see it.
History - I purchased her from Petco. She was the runt of the group that they said they received at same time.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Screen, Reptibreeze dimensions:16x16x30. No stuff at bottom.
Lighting - Zoo Med Tropical UVB & Heat Lighting Kit. Daylight blue is 60w. Light is on from 9am-10pm. Lights is about 4 inches from basking point.

Temperature - basking ranges from 80-85. Cage floor 70-75. Lowest overnight temp is 62. I have a thermometer at bottom of cage then a spot one located at basking point. Ordered an infrared.
Humidity - all over, can be between 60-85. 85 usually after misting, also have a little dripper. Live plants might make this go up?
Plants - artificial for now, a golden devil ivy pothos and Schefflera on the way.
Placement - located in corner of studio room. Some traffic. Top of cage is 5 ½ feet from floor.
Location - northern Illinois

Current Problem - I'm not sure that there is a problem or I'm being paranoid, but her color is usually a brown/grey color when in cage. Sometimes I can see hints of a red, worried that it looks like a sunburn. Only seems to be green when I handle her or she is sleeping. She also has a small bump on her skin and once in awhile I can hear the crackling noise when she breathes. But not always. The bump is on her rib in picture where she is green.

Thanks for reviewing this! She is my first Cham and she's getting my 100%! Debated posting this because I have no idea if she's fine or not, but after spending time on these forums, Chams seem very brittle. After this post, I'll stop pulling up the health clinic forum for a while to relax myself haha.

Welcome to the forum!

I just have a few suggestions. mealworms are not the greatest feeder, I would suggest switching to super worms. Also other varieties of feeders as well like dubia roaches, black soldier fly larvae, blue bottle flies, etc., they love variety! Also the gutload(what the bugs eat) should be fresh greens like endive, collard greens, dandelion greens, squash, carrots, etc.
I would also limit holding her as they get stressed easily if held daily. What kind of UVB is in the tropical kit?
She is also going to need a lay bin in her enclosure, I have all males so someone with female experience will need to step in on this one. I know there are many posts about lay bins and how to make them on here as well.
As far as her problems go, she will change colors due to stress. She is still trying to adjust to her new surroundings which is stressful, and holding her everyday is also stressful too so her body will show that!
I am not sure about the bump, could you post some more pictures?
There is always"tweaking" that is needed, and it is so great you are here! This place has great people with truck loads of great advice(y)

Thanks for the reply! Yea I saw that females can lay eggs without a mate, did not know that before purchase haha. Looking forward to it I think?! Lol

Yea I definitely need to get some variety then, do you recommend a place to buy these special insects? Pet stores by me only had crickets and worms.

ReptiSun 5.0 UVB Mini Compact Fluorescent

I'll try to stop handling her so much also. I figured that would've been a recommendation.

Here is another pic where you can see the bump. It's similar to a pimple. No pus or anything like that though.

Hi, I'm from the Chicago area original ... way back when. Please please go to the reptile show in Tinley Park I believe it's early next month .if you never went to one they have it twice a year. I've gone the last 3 shows , which takes me 4 hours from Ohio where I live now . Get your supplies and talk to the venders there. The one product I hope you get is Repashy Bug Buger for gut loading your crickets. And I'm not sure about Veiled Chameleons but I think the 5 inches from basking is to close. I hope someone can help me out with this, I don't want to see her get burned. I hope I'm wrong though.

Thanks for heads up on reptile show. That is definitely something I'm going to check out.

Yea it's pretty close but the heat isn't too high. Never over 85 so not sure how bad. But yea really looking forward to the show.

Just a little note think of her as a child and at 10pm she needs to be in bed. Chams should get a solid amount of straight sleep and feeding at night with no lights on (because they usually can't sleep with them on) means she can't digest the food till the morning lights. I'd try to feed her just crickets especially since she is so young once a day, before you go to work or something. I work night shifts usually so I get off at 10 or later and she is my only day time reptile so I do all her care before work. Aside from misting at night other wise she'd be left in a dark, cold, and wet tank till the lights turned on and would freeze.

I myself worried about temperature at night. Kammerflage told be to uses this ceramic bulb it gives off some heat and no light.panthers I was told they can have lower temperatures at night . The heat bulb is for meLOL ... piece of mind.

I order most of my bugs from rainbowmealworms.net they are so great, I have never had a problem with an order and they are super fast! I have ordered on a Monday and they were here on Wednesday, they are in California and I am in Maine so I find that pretty amazing!

I would get a new UVB light setup. The compacts are really not the greatest as they focus all the uvb in one area instead of spreading it out. I use the Reptisun t5 HO(high output) 5.0 linear bulb. You could also use Reptisun t8 5.0 bulb and get a fixture for the bulb at a local hardware store for a little cheaper. The reason I like the t5 is the bulb needs to be changed every year vs.every 6 months with the t8, but the t5 are a little more expensive to begin with. They were offering a deal that the bulb is included when purchasing the fixture, but I am not sure if that is still going on.

I am not sure what the bump is exactly. Hopefully someone will know what it is(y)

I got a hold of Todd at Light your reptile at
lightyourreptile.com , I think they are from New Hampshire or Maine. They come highly recommended. Told him what I was getting as a pet and he told me what I needed and I went on line a orderd it. Recently I called Todd and asked him when I should replace my 2 linear bulbs. He said a year from when I ordered them. So I got till April of 2018 .
As for the bump ... I wish I could help. Take her to the vets.i believe you said her breathing is a little nosiey too right. Keep us informed on her please.
