Good morning! Our 13 year old daughter is getting ready to purchase her first reptile. Veiled chameleon! Of course being the mom I’m doing a lot of research and I’m here to find out all the best ways to take care of this baby when we are able to get it ( trying to make sure I as the mom don’t mess it up ) any pointers on the best ways to care for , feed , water one of these cute creatures?! We are normally a dog/cat family but she has come to the conclusion she’d love to have one ! I’m pretty excited myself ☺️

You should feed him crickets dubia roaches superworms and some more bugs. Chameleon dont drink staying water you jeed to spray the water on leaves so he can drink. Also you should check proper lighting. You need T5 HO tube with 5%

Welcome! Soooo prepare to spend some serious cash for set up. Your looking at a minimum of $1,000 for basic set up.
Make sure she gets a Male... Females lay infertile eggs and can have complications. May be a bit much for a 13 year old and a first time cham keeper. I happen to love Veileds but just know these guys have serious attitudes. They like to show you that they are boss. Might consider a Male Panther as they can be a bit more relaxed. She also needs to know these are not a hold all the time pet. Mine lets me hold him but it is on his terms only. If she wants something more holdable a bearded dragon would be better. Let us know if you have questions.

I would start with the first link. Read everything you can. It is an incredible resource and covers every single aspect of their husbandry.

Hi! Welcome! ? So very awesome that you’re researching before buying. Too many come here we’ll after buying a chameleon and the chameleon kit sold by poorly informed pet stores and often it doesn’t end well.
Along with the links that @Beman provided, you read all of the posts here, take advantage of the search feature and ask as many questions as you may have.
