Just got back with my new chaps from the hamm reptile show in germany,
was a good show lots of chameleons for sale...but i missed the parsons:( but i did manage to get my pre-ordered Ankaramys, there pretty good.
I got 3 males and a female and also found some small tamataves
one of the males is very pissed off and freaked out so i have left he alone..if anyone has any pointers how to help him settle in please help me out:)

excuse the pics they were quick ones so i would not freak them out too much

Very cool chameleons, I wish to one day go to an out of the country reptile show!:D

They all seem to be Ankaramy, but am I right?

I just picked up about 6 new chameleons myself, I also uploaded a TON of pictures.:)

Thanks,
Jake

New Guys from Hamm

Ahhhhhhhhhh........heavy sigh..........very nice Ankaramy panthers. Would like to see pictures of the Tamataves too. Patience is the key to settling them down. Don't rush it. Just let them learn to trust you as you clean their cage and feed them. They will learn that you are the keeper of the food at some point. Don't try to handle them yet. Let them learn to trust you a bit first. Another tip.......don't look them in the eye for awhile. Clean their cage, etc. without directly looking at them. Lizards feel more invisible if you don't look directly at them. If you fix your eyes on them, they feel they are a "target". It's an instictive behavior they have. They realize that they are in danger if a predator fixes it sight (eyes) on them. It sounds really stupid but it's true. After they learn to trust you and your movements a bit more you can look at them directly. I've acclimated some very flightly wild caught lizards over the years (tree monitors and hydrosaurus sailfins) and found this technique to be a key in not stressing out newcomers. These types of lizards will fly into the cage glass walls when scared and damage their snouts. Keeping them calm is very important for the first few months so that they don't get messed up snouts. Look directly at a new wild caught tree monitor and it will go flying into the glass. Don't look at them directly and they sit still while you clean their cage. When I got into chameleons I wondered if they would respond the same way. In general, chameleons are no different. Pretend you don't see them and they think they are hidden. They will feel less stress than if they feel you targeting them with your eyes :) I want to see Tamataves..................

Cheers for all the great comments guys:)
And thanks very much PardalisGirl for all the tips,i might put him up in one of the high vivs so he will feel more secure,

Sorry i should have labled my pictures:eek: the last 2 pictures are the tamatave there only little but past that fragile baby stage....should be fun to watch the colours develop, the father is stunning!!!!

will keep you all up to date with fresh pics and there progress, the anks still have so much growing to do they are only about 4in STV length, one is very chunky and the other two are very slender, the female is going to get most of my attention at the minute, she is a bit skinny,so i have my eye on her will feed her a few waxies a day for a week or two:)

Tamataves

They are cute little Tamataves....I am so jealous that you can get them so readily. They are very hard to find in the USA. Rarely offered by anyone. Post more pictures after they get settled in. I bet they will color up quickly :)
