Hello I'm new here about a week ago I posted on the clinic for a mbd scare because I was sold a light with a plastic cover so basically my cham went a month with no uvb but I have taken the proper measures to up his calcium intake and the proper lighting and he's eating and pooping and doing well he's actually shedding today. I got his enclosure and took it out so he could get sunlight and while outside I decided to empty it because it was "too clutter" and he seemed to have grown into the branches so here is what I have so far, he likes it but seems too empty? Don't you think? No live plants yet and substrate is that coconut shell stuff please help me furnish kush the chams cage!!

He's cute! Id ditch the substrate or u could have an impaction scare along with ur mbd scare. Id put a potted pothos hanging in there would look great! And really add the hiding place and security he needs. He has to have places to dissapear to keep stress down..

EDIT: don't limit urself to a pothos its just my favorite. Many great plants that are readily available and safe. Just wash and repot in organic soil and cover the soil with large rocks.

Hi! The only time you need to put substrate in is if you have a female who may produce eggs. There's a chance your guy could ingest it accidentally and it may cause him problems.

That does look a little bare, are you able to get a nice ficus plant or a pothos for him? Live plants are great for humidity and drinking drips off. And he may like a little munch in them too :)

Im new here too but looks like a good set up to me! Maybe add a live plant but it sounds like you'll be doing that? Be sure to treat it beforehand. Cham looks good dude. Good luck! Maybe ditch the substrate and go bare bottom or newspaper. Easy clean up and reduces the chance of bacterial growth.

Thanks all those sound like great ideas and I'm all about my animals so an expense wouldn't be a problem I'm ready to go out to the store as soon as I have a list of things to furnish it with. What would you guys recommends for substrate? I chose the coconut to keep humidity in since it's full screen and the fog just goes through. I also spray the cage but it scares him. How would I go about hanging a potties exactly? And I had a ficus but it looked ugly and frill so I took it out to get something nicer

Here's. A closer picture that's what the mid top looks like it's basically his basking. Spot

Looks like a very good start to me :) You're right, a couple more plants would be good. I don't worry about substrate myself, I use compost and sand. I never saw a Cham of mine eat it on purpose.
Most people on the forum recommend a bare floor, or paper so it's easy to clean up.

I wouldnt recommend news paper. All the water and ink running and insects gettin into it and all that sounds like a hazard. Stick with bare floor or paper towels.

update
