New chameleon owner :)

I'm new to the forums, but I have been lurking around for quite some time (Mostly for the past month, picking out information on what I need for the new family member - All of which was very informative!).

The new chameleon (Who we think is a boy, but it's still hard to tell, he is only 3 months old!) is a chameleo ellioti.. I have not found much information about this particular species, unfortunately, but I did, thankfully find everything I need as far as basic needs go. "His" tank setup is similar to the one in which he was born, to reduce the stress of moving, and he has coped well so far. He was even eating 10 minutes after being introduced into his new home, nothing seems to phase him ;) His name is Marimo.

Here's a couple of pictures of the little guy, he is absolutely adorable!

Hi and welcome! I'm sure someone here can help you out with a care sheet, not me though :) pretty sure it's a small species, maybe montane? Sure is pretty!

Yes he/she is of one of the smaller species, his parents are barely longer than a hand (roughly 14cm or so). Our house wasn't big enough to hold a huge terrarium, and a colleague offered us one of the 8 babies that his female had had :) It was so hard to pick this little guy out! My husband was covered in chameleon babies before I decided on him.

How cute! I'm not sure if I've ever seen one of those. I'm still pretty new to chameleons, too. I'm glad you found the forums. This site has been an great resource for me since I decided to take the plunge and get my first chameleon. I look forward to seeing more pictures of little Marimo and seeing what he looks like when he's grown!

Very helpful information :) I will have to work on getting the humidity up. For some reason, even with the live plants, mostly-glass terrarium (would have gotten a full net one, but unfortunately, with the cats we have, that's out of the question for the time being...), frequent (although, not TOO frequent) mistings and additional fogger, the humidity is hardly budging past 50%.. 60% if I'm lucky. Any ideas?

I will be sure to post more pictures (and better ones once I actually own a proper camera) as he grows. There's certainly not enough of these adorable little guys to go around!

Welcome to the forum! Looks like you picked the right one. ;) Very cute.

We sure did! My husband was covered in all 7 chameleon babies before I decided on him. He was the biggest of the lot (which probably explains why he eats a ton, going to pick up some variety of food for him today, the flies we got from the previous owner are already almost gone!). He enjoys climbing upside down and looking from top-down to catch the flies roaming on the plants. I also find it adorable how he slept on the same leaf-cluster the past 2 nights. He will soon outgrow.....
