Hi All
I just bought 2 of these folding hampers at the local flea market for $1.00 apiece any ideas how to top it so the babies can't escape Size is 14" x 14" x 23", figured it would be perfect for them.

Turn it upside down onto a tray such as a cat litter tray? You could put a plant on the tray, whcih would also act as a water catcher. Dunno if that would be practical though?! O ryou could get some plastic netting and peg it over the tops.

Duh........"Wish I thought of that"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL:D

;)

But, seriously, I think it may be more trouble than it's worth to try and make a chameleon enclosure out of one of these.

For just a little more $$$ you can convert sterlite or rubbermaid tubs that work quite well.

On the positive side:

You only spent $2 ... and you got a couple of nice hampers!

It for babies....What's it gonna take a piece of mesh to fit over the top. It only gonna be used for 1 or 2 , aybe 3 months

neonate cage?

To be honest, it looks like it would make a good clothes hamper.

i agree with brad , new neonates need the added stable humidity that a tub or aquarium /terrarium provides, plus they cant climb the sides so unless there are predators about you dont even need to worry about a top. i have used the cages pictured and even recomended them, but i cant say that i would recomend them for neonates. yes the mesh is tiny, but the mateial is sort of snaggy, and neonate hands are REALLY tiny too, and yes they sell them at walgreens as clothes hampers, and they are great clothes hampers, lol, they are also available online with tops and zippered fronts as mantis/butterfly cages./ a 10 g aquairium or small tub makes a great neonate nursery. if you are interested, there are some pics of neonates crawling around in a 10g. in my public cf albums. jmo
