Needing more advice on my Gravid Panther....

I have a female panther that I'm pretty sure she is Gravid! She shows the gravid coloring and I've seen her go to the bottom of the cage and step into the pot of dirt! My wife and I built her a laying been out of an 11 gallon trash can with about 12 inches of dirt and left her in it over night and she will be in it til this afternoon! She has slowed down on her eating, only eating 1 insect a day but drinking water like crazy! I've tried feeling her belly for eggs and cannot feel anything! So my question is: If she doesn't lay any eggs today....When do I put her in a laying bin again or whats my next step??

Are you going to look at her all the time to see wht she is doing? it can sometimes take them a few days to get a good hole dug and get thelaying process started.

What I recommend is placing the laying bin inside the enclosure and letting her be... Eating will slow down and she will be a lot weaker when it's all over but you need to let her decide how and when.... Only after a good couple of days do you need to consider possible egg bounding... Plus if your eyes are on her almost at all she will shy away... Try to keep an eye on it but WITHOUT letting her notice you are there

Im at work and my wife checks on both our chams thru out the day...but we put her in the laying bin last night and the only thing i did this morning was to make sure was still in the bin with out her noticing! She will be undisturbed all day today...I was just wondering what steps to take if she doesn't lay any today! Thanks for the tips guys....more tips will be helpfull or ideas on a laying bin attached to her screen cage!! Thanks again guys!!!

Has she been mated, and if so how long ago? One of the most important things is to make sure she doesn't see you watching her. The soil/sand needs to be very moist, you should be able to make a tunnel in it and have it hold. You can put her in the bin every day and see if she starts to dig, not all females will use a separate laying bin. I use a large planter filled with moist play sand and leave it in there cage, sometimes I will punch a tunnel with my fist and they will use the tunnel I started. I cover the cage with a garbage bag with a peep hole cut in so I can check on them without them seeing me. Good luck!:)

We just bought the chams last week and they said they put them together but werent sure if they mated or not..that was at the end of June....also i dont think she saw me last night or this mornin, but she may have heard me! We will keep trying and right now in her cage we do have an 8 inch pot with supersoil in it, Ive been keeping it moist but she has not stepped into it..its been there since last week! Thank you for you help!
