Hi i have a nosy faly panther thats about 8 months old now. I made him a 4ftx3ftx2ft cage and he really seems to be enjoying his spacious habitat. I have a plexi-glass door on front and the 3 sides + the top are made of aluminum wire. He keeps crawling along the top though completely suspended upside down and im gettin a little nervous. twice now ive heard a bang and go into the room to find that my chameleon has fallen off the roof and managed to catch himself by just his tail around one of the vines on the fall down. 4 feet is a long way to fall and im afraid next time he wont be lucky enough to catch himself. Does anyone have any suggestions how to keep him off the top, but not to interfere with his heat/UVB bulbs resting on top of the cage ? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. And i am gettin a camara for christmas so i will be sure to upload some pics of my little guy and his setup. Thanks again for your time !

Maybe you should attach climbing vines and sticks to the sides and top so he has something he can grab onto easily? Though, sometimes, they just like to walk on the ceiling. They're designed to take falls and as you've seen, can catch themselves mid-fall quite often. If you're really worried, you might want to put something soft like a folded up towel on the floor to make the landing easier.

Thanks ! i think im going to try putting more vines around the roof so he has an easy way off the top. Wouldnt want anything to happen to the little guy.

I've personally always found that my panthers get really restless in adolescence, at around 8-10 months, and they won't stop pacing the cage or moving around. If you want to let him stretch his legs, you can pick up a live plant or a fake ficus (or something like that) and place it near the cage, with the door open. He'll probably come out and love sitting and exploring the tree for a little while. And then you can put him back in his cage. But I always let mine wander a safe area if they looked restless, just to let them stretch their legs and do something interesting for them.

Most go through phases of walking on the ceiling, he should stop on his own. If you can add more climbing vines and plants to hi cage that would probably help as well.
