Need help with plant for cage Jacksonii

I purchased a new cage 18x18x36-- all I could afford right now. I wanted a nice size plant to place on the bottom and flow through the vines. I plan on suspending a few smaller plant from a bar about 10" from top Pothos, Dracaena.

What would be a nice plant leafy about 20" tall to fill that void?

I will have vines from 10" mark to 30" mark at different heights. Would like a full cage with plenty of places for Tito to hide and bask.

thanks

umbrella is ok but in my experience they get root rot very fast. pothos is awesome and right now wal-mart has them in the garden center growing around some coconut husk, will make a beautiful centerpiece.. i'm hoping to get one this weekend.

Wandering Jew is another viney plant but has color, not just green.

i swear i think im going to revamp my chams entire cage and just have pothos vines and wandering jew vines all over for added coverage. my pothos hold so much water and they are growing fast because of it

i didn't know Pothos vines well-- has anyone used Honeysuckle?

I will check on Wal-mart

thanks

you can use honeysuckle, grape ivy. there are a ton of plants you can use but i would say over half of them are perennials or seasonal plants. I would aim for plants that stay green all year round. pothos, once you see it, youll probably have remembered seeing it before, its a very common houseplant.

lowe's gardening center has them as well. I got my umbrellas and ficus from lowes.

here's a link that has a master list of plants you can use: http://www.flchams.com/safe_plant_list.asp

Thanks I have a small ficus and pothos-- I was looking for something different.

I have time --I ordered those cage bars from Dragon Strand to hang a bar for haning plants and cross my vines-- they are not due for another couple days.

I noticed on one thread that they drill some holes in the bottom of the cage to release extra water, does this help?

yes the holes help so that there is no standing water in the cage. we drilled holes underneath the ficus since it's the heaviest plant in his cage. it drains into a bin underneath

I planned in raising the cage on 1/4 inch piece of wood to allow the water to drain into a tray and keep the bottom dry. I hope the plants will retain enough water to allow the chameleon to drink and hold humidity.

I am using a Monsoon mister 1 hour after the lights come on for 30 seconds 9am and 1 pm and then fogger at 3:30 pm for 30 minutres giving the cage four hours to dry out.
