a veiled chams colours are that of pale yellow green and orange with hints of brown and when they are babys they are normaly that of pea green or darker if sterssed out or cold, they will not have the FIN shape crest on there head untill they are a little older and it wil get bigger as they grow older as mentioned above, they have small soft spikes running along there underside from there chin to there back end ,they grow up to18- 24 inches long nose to tail tip as a male and femals around 14 inches and the lady lizard will not have such a head Fin or such bright colours ,they need to be kept at around 60 %humidity and at around 80 F in ambient air temp(this means the temp taken in the center of your viv u can use a termostat to maintain this connected to your heating devices ) and have lots of branches and trees to climb over with a dripping system arranged over the leaves so the water splashes down so they can drink as they will not drink from a water dish ,(put a shllow dish below to catch spare drips or you will have a wet viv) a large verticaly screened viv is recomended, with a basking bulb in one top corner shining onto a branch so they can vist there to warm up if needs be (make sure its outside the viv shining in so they cant burn themself) and use a strip u.v bulb 10.0 if using a screen viv as the screen filters out some u.v as discussed above(change every 6 months or u.v will wear out), make sure that you mist your cham and enclosure heavily twice a day morning and early evening so he will be able to drink and to keep humidity up and use live plants like ficus inside his enclosuer (washed and re-potted in clean non fertilized soil) this will help humidity and give him some arial pathways. feed babys every day while they are growing on small locust or smallish crickets or other insect feeders no bigger than his mouth about 4 or 5 will be ok per time and increase size of food as he gets older and bigger, feed adults every other day about 4 or 5 locust /or a few more if these are smaller insects like crickets. take any un eaten food out after a few days .dust food wilth a calcium /repti vits powder 2 times per week, also veileds chams eat( non toxic )greens like dandilions and hibiscus leaves and flowers and romain so make sure you include this in his diet! and make sure you turn heating and lights of at night ,chams like a drop in temps so they can sleep. hope this has helped. katt. x
