I bought some liquid calcium for my ambanja, and I gave him just a bit but my brother was gave it to him while I was holding him. And right after that like about 10min after he started getting reall white and pale. And changed colors ive never seen him before. I started to trip out so I took him outside so he can catch fresh air then I washed him down with warm water, but he kept gasping hard for air. then I tried dripping a lil water in his mouth to clear away his throat from the calcium I had given him, about 40 min after sitting in his cage with the heat on him...he kind of went back to his normal color, not as pale..now hes sleeping but still gasping for air as if he couldn't breathe thru his nose..what can you guys tell me about this...I would really appreciate your guys help!..Thanks in advance

The liquid calcium you gave possibly entered his windpipe. Where ours is at the back of the throat chameleons is towards the front of the mouth. Why are you giving liquid calcium? If for no particular reason, it is much safer to lightly dust the insects. If he does not recover soon I think it best to get to a vet .:)

do you think he'll recover though?..i was giving some to him because a dude told me that hes helmet was dented a bit from needing calcium

Can you post a picture? If it's dented, that doesn't mean he needs calcium, it mean he need more food (or water).

He may have aspirated it into his lungs. You have to be VERY careful administering things in your chameleons mouth. And when you washed him down with water, did you put more water in his mouth? If so, you could have done more damage. Whoever this "dude" was, do not take advice from him because he does not know what he is talking about. When the fat pads/helmet as you call it, are sunken in, as the other member suggested, it is because they are either under fed or could be dehydrated. I hope he recovers for you. If you have questions about your chameleon from now on, come on here and we will be glad to help you. I am hoping someone on this forum did not give you that advice.
