naturally stimulateing breeding??

this question is just for my own curiousity but would the sound of water lightly falling stimulate breeding behavior in chameleons? iv noticed with most reptiles iv read about they breed more during wet season. is this also true for chameleons?

I doubt that the sound of rain would be what would stimulate a chameleon to breed. I would expect that to more likely be a plausible case in taxa that have more developed or increased reliance on auditory senses. Additionally, taxa that rely on puddles and wet conditions to breed, and have quick incubation periods (frogs, etc.) are probably more likely to respond to the actual rain events. Species that time their hatching to correspond with ideal conditions at a much later date (i.e. chameleons) might be responding more to changes in day/light cycle, temperature range or variation, or general prevalence of rain and the resultant changes in barometric pressure. That said, I do not know that there has been any work done to prove or disprove my thoughts on the matter.
