my set up

just wanted to post a few pics and explain somewhat what i have been doing. and critiquing would be nice or fine tuning. i have a 7 month old nosy faly.. so i have the exo terra overhead compact top it uses 2 coil bulbs instead of 1 fluorescent tube although i have been recomended with a 6 month old to only put in one for now as 2 bulbs could cause eye damage so only one for now and an 75W infared bulb..not sure on brand. i just rest them ontop of the cage and i have his basking spot a good 8 inches of so below it. i have been rotating dustings with calcium with d3 2 times a week and mutivitamin 2 times a week and calcium 2 times a week and i try to give him a day to rest his kidneys and liver. so for crickets i keep them in the tub i buy them in till the night before i feed them, then they go into the cricket keeper with gut load. for gut load i sometimes just put in a piece of something for them to munch on like apple carrot oranges or the dry cricket mix from brand i cant remember i will name later if anybody wants. and for "wet" gut load i use the sponge thing that came with the keeper plus on top of it i put my homemade stuff (blended collard greens, carrot, apple, oranges, and sweet potato with some water). this way they are nice and full when i feed them other than that i handle him maybe every other day or so, he wont hand feed or cup feed yet. he looks at it and you can tell he is thinking about it he just never does. not sure what else... i mist him quite a few times a day the humidity never stays up in the screen cage but its all real plants on the cage bottom mostly fake up top i couldnt find tall plants. never really see him drink more than a drop or two he never wants to drink off plants only ever off the thermometer been that way since i got him.. i cant think of any more details. here are the pics

You have done alright for him, but I do see a couple of things you could change.

First I would change his heat lamp to a normal light bulb, maybe a 60w. The red heat lamps aren't very good. the chameleon doesn't see a red light as a heat source.... but a normal light bulb will put out rays of light that he will associate more to a heat source like the sun. He might bask at the lamp... but it is mostly by change, not inclination.

Is your light hood a screw in type of hood or is it a linear lamp hood? Can you tell us what kind of UVB lamp is in the hood?

I would invest in a digital temp probe from Lowe's or Home Depot. The analog guages don't really work.

Other than that, not bad. The cage might be a bit small for him in a couple of months though. I'd maybe put in a couple more vines.

nice work.

agreed.

Other than that you have done a good job. once he outgrows that you can get something new for the little cage :D!

Yeah I know the cage is a bit small but it was that or way huge lol. And I guess I'll change the bulb though it does keep the basking area at a steady 90 and he seems to.know to bask there. Also just order king mist system will be here soon that will make life easier for me and better for my little buddy. The hood is the exo terra one with 2 sockets for screw in coil bulbs but I only have one ex terra 5.0 in there and was going to put a second one in when I upgrade his cage and he is older. guy at store told me 2 right now can damage his eyes. Although I also have a hood that uses the long tube lights would that be better? It's not big enough to go to a bigger cage when I get one though
