My Pygmy Vivs.

I noticed that this part of the forum hasn't seen much action recently and thought I'd reawaken it by posting some pics of my pygmy vivs. They're both the 30x30x45 exo terras. First off is my R. uluguruensis viv which has been set up for about a month so the ficus is nice and bushy:

Appologies about it being on its side, but I've uploaded it to photobucket a dozen times and it won't let me change it
Here's a shot showing the food bowl which is actually an old, glass, face cream pot but works perfectly!

I use a bowl so that I can have a nice layer of leaf litter down without worrying about the crickets hiding 0.3 seconds after being put in the viv! I've found that it has worked very well and they know where to wait for pot to be put in! Lol.

Next up is my R. brevicaudatus viv which has only been set up around a week (I only got the brevs today!). I set this one up pretty much the same as the first viv apart from adding a smaller ficus instead of a fern.

The larger ficus is a little sparse at the moment as I had to trim it to get it in the viv, but I'm sure with some light and water, it will be as full as the other in a matter of weeks! Here's a close up of the viv floor, just for fun!

I'm pleased with how the vivs look, and the clumps of moss on the substrate seem to have taken too, although time will tell!
Let me know what you think :)

Looks fabulous to me. I know absolutely nothing about pigmies - are they hard to keep? Maybe instead of asking, I should just do a little searchin and reading on this site!

Thank you very much guys :)

I don't find them difficult at all.......and these guys are my first chams! I don't find them to be very demanding and all 5 of mine have eaten within 2 days of getting here. In fact, I have to limit their food as the ulus were eating too much to start with! :D
I spent about 3 years on an off researching them, then a good 3 months of intense research before I bought mine......a little over the top maybe, but it's worked for me! Lol.

What is your bottom layer?

I have potting soil which slopes up to around 3.5-4 inches thick at the back. There are several clumps of live moss in there, and the rest is covered by leaf litter from my local woods.........I baked it in the oven so it's safe ;)

looks real good i just hate water spots on the glass wonder if u misted them with distilled water could you avoid the unsitely hard water stains?

Best of luck to you when you need to find eggs!

Haha! Yes, I had thought of that......I decided that if I see a female laying, I'll pull the eggs out and incubate them. If not, I'll just leave them be as I don't want to be pulling apart the viv every few weeks in search of them! I'm happy for them to incubate in the viv as there are plenty of hiding places for the little ones when they hatch, although finding them may prove harder than finding the eggs! Lol

Yes, I probably could! When I give the vivs a major clean out, I'll start using distilled water instead as I too dislike the water marks. It's been about 3 years since I kept crested geckos and forgot at how quickly it builds up :(
