Congrats, he's awesome :) I hope he has some even smaller branches and lots of leaves too, to help him settle in better.

thanks :) i would but the breeder told me to keep it simple like this. he said just a few branches around to get the chameleon to get used to me. once he grows up a little bit, i'll be getting a plant(s). he suggested that if theres a bunch of stuff in the cage, the chameleon could hide and become shy. which was what happened with my last chameleon. so i'm trying the branch thing with all sorts of different size branches and hoping it'll work.

it's been great so far! he's already eaten a few crickets, some from free roaming and a couple from my hand. i've also seen him drink! :)

Which breeder is this? I would say that chameleons are naturally shy animals. I don't think it's a good idea at all to deprive him of places to hide, because this could also make him more insecure in the long term. Most lizards, even the more 'sociable' or gregarious ones need somewhere they can feel hidden or they will be stressed. This is not just about how comfortable he is with people, but about his health and lifespan.
