I took this photo of one of the Carpet hatchlings, I have also tried to contactthe breeder of the parents to get confirmation of the species Major or Minor? Both parents are small barely four inches body length, whatever they are I dont mind a bit, Ive waited 10 months for this first laid clutch to hatch and am delighted with the 5 hatched to date.

CONGRATS!
That takes a lot of work to hatch that species.
You should be very proud of your work.
Good luck with the babies!
Could you give us a description of your incubaion?

They sure looked like majors to me. They usually have less of a pattern than the nominate subspecies. Here's a pic of Mr and Mrs Major from earlier this afternoon:

Five babies! Way to go!

Congrats on the babies! I'm glad to see other successes with the species. I too, would be interested in your incubation techniques to compare with mine. I'm at F2 generation with the Furcifer lateralis major which IS the species you've got.

Just for some clarification on your part:

Furcifer lateralis lateralis is the nominate species and is found over a good part of Madagascar. They are a brightly coloured species and reach and average about 8inches.

Furcifer lateralis major is a name for a smaller population of Giant Carpet Chameleons in the located in southwest coast Madagascar only. They are a little more drab and reach approximately 12-14 inches.

Furcifer minor is a completely different species coming from central Madagascar and are not generally found in the pet trade.

Congrats!

Congrats on hatching out something unusual! I know very little about this species but it is obvious that you have accomplished something special. Keep us updated on their progress. You should post a picture of the parents too :)
