hi. just got my tank done. please let me know what you think and what i should change.

current setup-
-18x18x36 glass/mesh
-planted ficus bonsai and schefflera
-reptisun 5.0 uvb bulb
-50watt basking light
-dripper
-drainage sytem
-hand misted

the basking spot is at 78-80 deg with both lights on and the humidity is at 80% after a good misting.

im only using half of the tank for now because im getting a baby.
once he grows and the plants grow, then i will simply cut the legs on the tray which will lower it and then add more branches.

the tray drains into a 5g bucket. the tray has a bottom mesh layer with rocks , then soil/plants, then rocks as a final top layer

the stand itself used to be a file cabinet that i custom built into a storage area for my crickets, feed, and suppliments.

here are pics-

let me know how i did.. thanks!

i tryed to make it the most constructive but least ghetto way possible.. the only thing that "looks ghetto" is the tape that hold the water deflectors and the screws are visible on the stand. but overall i think its pretty creative and i think this would be perfect for my new cham.:D

its not a utility sink.. just a square trash bin that i cut to size and i just put a hole in the middle to fit a drain system from a sink. i will cut the legs to lower the tray as the cham grows. the only thing i really had problems with is the design and i had to cut a hole in the glass.

Nice job! Is that tank something you made or did you buy it somewhere? Looks like a screen door and top? What species are you thinking about? Trying to figure what type of enclosure will be best for my situation, and this set up gives me some ideas.

this was originally a 55 gallon critter tank that i kept my snake in.. i have pulled the glass from the top and added mesh. made the tank stand upright. the tank already had a mesh top but since it now stands upright, it became a sliding door. i cut a small hole in the glass bottom so the drain pipe has somewhere to drain.

I knew I could smell potential from you.......You've done your research well.......that's without doubt the best first attempt at a custom cham setup I've ever seen. It's darn well near perfect. Bit more leafiness never goes amiss - makes it a bit harder to see, but hide and seek with a baby Cham is a great game, :D It will be a happy cham in there, I can't wait to see where you go from here when you decide he needs extra room......:)

thanks. haha i might build him a bigger cage once he gets bigger but ive seen some peoples addictions.lol im not shure if im ready to design my house around chameleons..lol i may just make him a little free range area but i shure aint going crazy..lol

BTW ordered him today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he should be here soon.. any names? his colors are going to have some sort of orange! :D

I'll leave you to enjoy the early months, and you go at your own pace, lol
But one cham never needs to take up more than a quarter of a decent room, inc. kit and feeders. When he's fully grown-up I'm sure he won't still be in there.......which means you'll have room for a new baby, and then it really begins.........

getting my veiled on tuesday!!! :D:p i named him YODA! cant wait

UPDATE: i have ran my setup for the last 3 days to make shure its perfect for my cham.. the drain system is wonderful! works so well! how to coming soon!
