We have had our chameleon for about a year. We got him when he was very small. He's been thriving and has gotten huge. Today we noticed the tip of his cone is all yellow and crusty looking. Does anyone have an idea of what it could be? (I will post a picture). He's a great eater, he drinks a lot and has a constant drip. He's been shedding constantly lately, always peeling. Werevjust concerned. He doesn't like being touched (he's always been super grumpy) so we're trying to avoid a stressful vet trip unless it's absolutely necessary. Any ideas

Welcome to the forums. That looks pretty bad. It looks like an infection to me. Could have been caused by a burn. He will most likely need an oral and topical antibiotic. If not treated it will most likely spread. Do you have a good chameleon vet? If not where do you live and I might be able to recommend one.

It's been cold here the last couple of days suddenly and I have noticed him close to The heater a lot. We also have noticed some thick skin build up there that didn't shed. We have an exoctic vet here. we have moved the heater farther away from his highest branch and treated it with a topical antibiotic for tonight.

OK so ointment seems to be helping. Onto the next issue..... We've had him for a year and he's always puffed up, hissed and lunged every time we've tried to touch him. So we give him his space and don't bug him and def don't hold him. I've even opened his cage door to see if he wanted to come out and all he did was puff up and hide until I closed it.

Yesterday we opened the door and he climbed right out. He climbed on me and my gf arms and he actually didn't want to go back in his cage.... Today he keeps coming to the door like he wants to come out and pacing... This is just unusual for him as he's usually so grumpy.

He's very active, eating and drinking fine and as I said his cone is improving.... Any ideas on the sudden change in social behavior?

I will say...His freedom = his happiness, try taking him outdoor if there is a hot sunny day,It will be even better.
