this is my first chameleon rango and im having some problems with her... i think shes eggbound! ive seen her digging for almost 6 days and she still has not even tried to lay her eggs. is this ok please tell me

Photos of her please.but don't take them when she's digging. Are you letting her see you when she's digging because if you do it will likely make her stop and if it happens too often she can become eggbound.

Please answer the questions in the how to ask for help thread near the top of the health forum.

Are you handling her these days or letting her alone so she can lay the eggs?

Fill this out in detail for @kinyonga

no im am not letting her see me and ill get back to you on the images

Our Peach just laid her eggs recently, we used a bin that was at least 12" deep, but 18" to 24" is great. I've read they can be very picky about the location and depth of the hole, especially if they don't feel safe and have full privacy. I used a webcam to spy on our girl when she way laying, so I could also easily know if she actually had laid them. I know that may not be an option for everyone.

Good luck I hope she lays them soon!

i mean showering by putting her in luke warm water on a plant in the shower
im so confused

this is typically done with a Cham that is dehydrated. It can be done to get the dirt off her once she has laid her eggs. But moving her to the shower will add unneeded stress while trying to lay eggs.

and im also not handeling her but im pretty sure i solved the problem :)
she did not have enough dirt to dig in

Didn’t you just say you put her in the shower?

make sure you give her COMPLETE privacy while she is digging. As @kinyonga said if she sees you to much she can abandon her hole and become egg bound.

if she gets lethargic, sitting low in the cage, sleeping during the day she will need a vet ASAP. Hopefully this will not be an issue.

I have actually been using less and less substrate for them to lay in. Why make them dig 12,18,24 inches when they can lay perfectly fine in 6-8 inches.
