my cham has been shedding diff parts of his body for the past week or 2 and his head is now shedding. he has been expressing a severeley agitated state and i was wondering if something is wrong or if this is normal.

How old is your Cham? As they get older their shedding patterns change a little. Could you describe in a little more detail what a severely agitated state is?

Is he wiggling , brushing up against anything he can brush up against, Seems uncomfortable in his old skin? I would say it is normal.

Is he showing any other signs of stress?

Since my cham was about 10 months old he only sheds in sections now. Never the big sheds like he use to do.

2 weeks seems kind of long to me, i know its not unheard of. I have a panther at 9 months that did his shed in 2 days. Try to up the humidity and mist him directly with warm water. Id imagine, being in a shed state for 2 weeks could get annoying. What is the humidity of the enclosure right now?

despite keeping my cages at 60 to 75 Percent humidity and misting 4 to 5 times per day, both of my chams take about 2 to 3 weeks to completely finish their shedding. I also use a humidifyer and still about the same. This is from the first few flakes to the last few flakes. But for about a one week period there seems to be alot that flakes off especially when the body is doing its thing. then it slows again for another week till it is done.

your chams may be more agitated as this is probably a pretty itchy situation. Natures little way of making the chams help the process along.

Dunno much but that's my observations.

But like asked before:

What are your cages humidity at?
and are you misting more often?

hope that helps

humidity = 50% or 60% w/ spikes after misting
age= 5-6 months
ryan what u are describing is basically what my cham is doing but he also puffs up every once and a while.
not much stress, but he does display a darkish green and orange occasionally.
he is doing a big shed right now and at this moment he is rubbing his head across my palm tree and puffing up, though not to stressed, more agitated.

puffing up is normal, they are just expanding their body mass to help them break out. Same thing with the whole mouth jaw opening and gullular expanding etc.

My adult male has shed for months in pieces and parts. He may shed his head and then 3-4 weeks later his limbs, then another 3-4 weeks his tail. His body always sheds less times then the other parts. This started happening when he reached his adult size. I did just post on another thread that I put him in a new cage - very large - and he is now doing a full body shed. Go figure....
