my cham has a cold!

Help he me i have just got two chams form a breeder i have had the for about 5 days now the male is eating,drinking a climbing all over the place on the other hand me female is a little lathargic still drinking and eatting a little but my concern lies with her gasping for air quite frequently also she will have one eye closed for about 20 second then opoen it again. Think she has a cold so i have raised the temp by 10 degrees what less can a do as she is very dark / black.

I would contact the breeder immediately and let them know what is going. There should be a health guarantee that comes with your chameleon.

Are both chams in seperate cages? Why do you think it is a cold?, which in cham world is called a Respiratory Infection. Your lighting could be off or your temps could be too high. Just guessing here right now. Is she gaping with her mouth under the basking light by chance?

if your cham has a cold, (lots of mucus, cant breath) it might have a URI. (upper respiratory infection) take it to a vet or else it could die.

i see chameleons on here all the time who died of a uri.

see gasps where ever she is even under the basking lamp, there is no mucas or snot but when she opens her mouth to gasp i can here her open it it sonds like it is sticky

Yea it could be a URI. Take her to the vet and he or she should fix it. But have you ever heard of ReptAid? You should get some, it can be very helpful for things like this.

I'm intrigued by Reptaid. Has anyone here used Reptaid to successfully remedy a URI? If it actually works, it would be a much better alternative to Baytril.
