Must not be gravid?

I put my male and female ambilobe panthers together on Oct 6th and it seemed to be successful. They were locked together for 45 minutes after the initial following of the female by the excited male around the entire cage. I assumed that the 45 minutes was enough but it has been over a month now and she no longer shows gravid color but she does seem to show receptive colors. She is eating well and seems healthy otherwise. Did I not leave the male with her long enough?

Is there any place for the female to lay her eggs, such as a laying bucket or bin. If so check and see if she layed eggs, if not you should get one in there soon before the female becomes egg-bound and dies.

If she can't see the male she may not display her gravid colors. Show her to the male and see if she darkens her colors....and do you have a place for her to dig in the cage?

I put a laying bin with play sand and a small plant in with her at about the 10 day mark so she could get used to it. I had the male in front of her cage for a couple of minutes last weekend and she did not darken up like i thought she would.

I have heard that shortly before laying eggs she should stop eating. She has been eating pretty regular all along and I have not seen the bulging in her belly like I have heard described on the forum.

Sometimes although they look like they are breeding it's unsuccessful. I just watched one of my favorite males breed the females leg. He never made it to her vent! Pitty, I can't wait to get little ones from him. But he's only 6months old so he's still learning! If nothing comes of it, try again!

what is the longest a female can go without laying her eggs? could it possibly take a week longer than the average 30 days without being eggbound?

Every now and then a female will take longer to lay, but it's best to take them into the vet if you get worried or for x-rays. Since the normal amount of egg laying time is up, I'd take her to a vet just to hear his opinion, or even call one to see if they think you should take her in.

I plan to call my vet in the morning if I dont see any change by tonight. I put a sheet around her cage so she is more isolated. She may not want to dig if she can see me checking on her. thanks for the replies.

Is she digging alot? Usually when they begin digging you can move her to a 5gallon bucket with some cover. They usually drop within a day or 2 from there.

Even if you saw a physical connection, it doesn't necessary mean it was a successful mating. She may not have been completely receptive at the time of mating. They don't always lay eggs after they mate.

i think that is probably the case. She has not been digging at all and does not appear to be getting any bigger since Oct 6th when they were together. I will have to try again when I am sure she is receptive. thanks

I noticed yesterday that my female had dug up one side of the planter I have in there for her egg laying bin. I saw a single white egg on the floor of the cage this morning before work. Should I assume she has finished laying all of her eggs? She does not look deflated or any smaller in size. Should I give it one more day before pulling the laying bin out?

Clea(my female veiled) had dropped an egg like that during her infertile clutch. i guess that egg meant she was ready and all so i took it out and left my room for most of the day. The next day i found all 44 infertile eggs behind the bin. It was strange but im saying your female is rather close to laying...very close
