Moving up in cage size...When

I have a 3.5 month old Nosy Be male. He's in 16x16x30 screen cage now but my plans are to have him in a 24x24x48 screen cage at some point. Assuming you have a healthy, average growing Nosy Be, How old would he need to be before making that kind of transition? I was thinking 7-9 months old but not sure. Thank you

I do it when I feel that they are large enough and/or are capable of finding food for themselves. Since there are no real averages for growth, it can be difficult to just tell you when they can be moved. With some of mine I moved them when they were young but good hunters (usually because they looked like they could use the room to roam,) and others that did not use as much space or were not as good at finding their food were moved into the bigger cages much later than the others.

I think it would depend on the personality of your cham, like pssh said. My Nosy Be kept busting out of his baby cage and clearly didn't want to go back. So I started free ranging him at five months. That was NOT my plan at all, but I have learned chameleons don't really care about your plans. . .
