Mounting Dowels in Enclosure?

I am trying to add some horizontal branches, so I picked up a few wooden dowels today from HD and I wasn't sure how to mount them in the enclosure.

Here is my enclosure I built, and how it's setup currently. what would be the best way to mount them?

I was thinking of just going in with nails from the outside, through the enclosure and into the dowels?

What about down near the screen, I know most of you guys have full screen enclosures so how do you mount them in a screened area?

Thanks in Advance.

Yea, I mounted wooden dowels with them. Just push real hard and make sure your finger is centered on the tack! If it's too hard you could always make a small starter hole with a pick.

Good to know! I am going to give this a try when the lights come on in Ziggys enclosure today.

I need to add some up higher as well, I think a 2" thin nail should work alright.

I made my own enclosure so i was able to put wooden beams at the sides, these would support the horizontal beams which hold his waterful and food container. From them i have been able to attach fake bendy branches that i can bend in any direction. I have also aquired some brilliant rather expensive viv branches for a bargain price, local shop had put wrong price on them!! As they were too long i cut a foot off of each of them and screwed them on threw the back wooden wall, one of them is his favourite bascking spots. If you dont want to screw them in could you not get some bendy vines and use them to suspend your horizontals. Or could you build a discreet frame for the viv so you can attatch things to that. If you build things yourself you can get quite creative! Good luck, sorry if this hasnt been any help, Faye

Hanging the dowels from the top with garden wire seems like a good idea, I might give this a try if I can't get in from the sides with nails.

i just used these 2 inch screws i had laying around and put a washer on it too so from the inside out it went (dowel , screen, washer ,screw . its really strong and sturdy. the wood didnt split but i wrapped the ends of the dowel with ductape just incase they did.

I drill a small hole through the side of each dowel and then wire them through the screen. I have used tacks before but the dowels will roll while your cham is on them and eventually, the dowels can break loose from the tacks.

I used small screw eyes or hook eyes on each end of the dowel. Then I used small zip ties to attach them to the screen.
