Mood Swings

The last few days my Chameleon has been on edge it seems. he has been turning dark stripped colors and gaping his mouth constantly. He has also been what i call "dancing" moving up and down like a leaf.

Nothing really has changed but he seems much more upset that he has ever been. he is about 4 months old his poop seem too be healthy. and he has been eating his chrix.

gaping doesn't necessarily mean he is moody or mad. Is he doing this at you or when you are not around the cage? If you are not within close range, then he may be too hot or he could have a respiratory infection. They will gape because of both those things.

I walked up too his cage and he gaped at me. Went and put a bright green t-shirt and he stopped gaping. The other day he gaped at my girlfirend when she was next too the cage too.

I really hope its not an infection. :/

it could be just that he sees his cage as his turf which of course it is so as u walk up u are entering his "bubble" that mouth gaping may just be his way of say "yo your bothering me a bit go away" but this is just me throwing out ideas just something to think about.

If he only seems to be doing it when you go up to the cage, he's probably just upset with you being there. Is it a veiled? If so, he could be at the beginning stages of chameleon puberty, at which time they often have an shift in disposition.
