Mist King Question

I am going to be purchsing a mist king system in the next few wks. I was wondering if anyone had tried using an undertank heater on the reservoir bucket to warm the water. I think that may be a cheaper way to go than buying the hydor in line heater i see others talk about. What if any concerns should i have? Anyone tried this?

I picked up a fishtank heater this weekend for 10 bucks. It heats my water in the reservoir to 80-81 the way I have set now.

My concern would be Algae growth eventually in the bucket.

That is why you use distilled water and CLEAN the "bucket" every now and then. It's amazing what 5 minutes and a little elbow grease can accomplish.

Edit: Also, since my reservoir is completely covered, there is NO light that comes through. This also helps minimize algae.

The only reason i dont want to go with a fish heater is the possiblilty of it getting exposed to air and breaking. I feel much safer with the heater on the bottom of the bucket. Thanks, Anyone tried this method out there?

You could install the bulkhead about 2 inches from the bottom, this way when all the water drains, the heater will still be under water. Just an idea
