So i got some arcadia T5 HO 6% coming. However im not sure how to set them up. Currently im semi free ranging with plant on top of a reptibreeze with an exposed bulb on top. So the light is shining on the plants on top, and on the inside of the cage. However the new lighting system has a hood so i cant do unidirectional lighting any more.

Whats the recommended min/max bulb distance. I know chams like a min of 10µW/cm2 and the arcadias do 30µW/cm2 at 30cm out. 2ft away should not be a problem with a reflector.

2 feet away would be fine with no screening in between. :)

This may prove helpfull...

These are Arcadia t5 HO readings.

Please Note:

These readings were taken with the bulbs in a HIGH Quality fixture with a good quality ballast.

Flo. light ballasts CAN and DO effect UV out-put.
Cheap-o ballasts (in either HO t5 or even those in reg t8 flo. tube fixtures) can cause you to lose up to 20% OR MORE of the UV out put.... just because the cheapie ballast is not driving the lamp well.

And also these readings were done in fixtures that have a good polished metal parabolic reflector behind them.:D

Cheers!
Thank you!
