Hey Guys,

Im new to the forum and I want to start buy saying how proud I am to be able to join such a helpful community.

My question is - I was at michael's today looking for items that I can add to my chameleons enclosure and I came across the 3 foot plywood sticks that they sell. I was wondering if anyone else has use these sticks and how well they stand up to the moisture. I bought a few sticks for only 3 bucks so if it doesnt work out I really dont lose anything. Im just worried about bacteria and mold growing from the moisture.

Any thoughts?

I would buy some clear coat, sand the sticks down so they're small enough for the chameleon's feet, clear coat over the sticks (with a paint brush) so the moisture doesn't get in.

Then attach them however you want. They will not be destroyed by moisture anymore.

Regular old wood will be if you don't seal it in some way.

This is why when I built my stand and painted it, we clear coated it after the 2nd coat of black paint and sanding, so that if water dripped down, none would get through

You can also use tree branches, cut to size, and cleaned.
Just try to find one that does not have a lot of loose bark or skin on it.

My backyard dogwood tree (whats left of it!) makes wonderful cham perches :)
