Melleri Eggs

Hey all:

You may remember when I announced the joyful (and very unexpected!!) arrival of 74 eggs from my melleri, Newbie, right after the super show. I checked on them a few days ago and a few of them had molded over but the rest of them were still looking pretty good: white and perfectly shaped (even those 2 conjoined ones...). However, this morning I went to check on them again and ALL of them had molded and/or shriveled up!! Bummer!!

My excitement for these eggs has been short-lived (even though we knew there was only a slim chance that these eggs would be fertile....) but we are still happy that at least now we know which one of our melleri is for sure a female! :)

That is a disappointment. But, you're right, there's a great deal of value in knowing and confirming your Meller's' gender! A few of Megana's eggs are growing fuzz, but most still look OK for now.

So sad to hear they were infertile. :( I remember the first clutch of parsonii eggs I dug up and the excitement in the first two weeks of actually having some. Only to have all 36 mold over and go bad slowly during a two month period.
Knowing you have a her, has to be a good feeling though. :)

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm pretty stoked that I know for sure she is a she!

Oh, BTW: Newbie is still doing wonderfully. She's still a little piglet, still looks great and still likes to come and say Hi. Yes, Kevin - I'm still working on those updated pics for you, too. :D A friend of mine just got a sweet camera and is in a photog. class. My reptiles are going to be her muse... :)

Well crap! That's a bummer for sure. Oh well like what's been said, least you know you got a girl.
