Hello, Thank you to everyone that has been helping me this past week. I rescued a Veiled Cham from someone that no longer had the time due to his schedules. She has been in 3 homes and a school. Still need to do the finishing touches on her new cage. Had to drive 3 hour round trip to fetch it since Fed Ex had in on a hold.....Her Fecal was dropped off today and hopefully next week if no issues the Vet. If issues sooner.

How she arrived

No that red bulb is gone, Have the repsun tube instead of the coil ones. 75 watt bulb for heat will be checking the temps with that in the new cage.

and my two other reptiles Elliot then Aubrey- they feel a little left out this week though Elliot did go bob at her cage and she came closer:eek:

There is a ficus, hibiscus, umbrella and a Pothos vine in there now- tomorrow when my daughter comes she is adding highways and more plants- :)

thank you- Trying to do what is right for Lily- she didn't even have a name:(
its only been 1 week since she arrived, I know I have a lot to learn- she is very different from my other two, but is being patient while I try things out I read on the forums.

I agree she needs to settle in big change for her. I had the plants for 3 days now and let her climb in them for a couple of hours each day before the cage was set up. I also took the center structure of her old cage and put it in the new one so at least something was familiar. I have the extra dirt and sand from my female beardie who is laying now. Planning on going to Lowes today to get the silicone for the drip system going to look at what they have for the bin part. I read that link before and know it is a must but thank you for posting it since bin was not on my lily shopping list :( Do Veiled need the garbage can or the 12x12

Well done to you for rescuing her....and for coming on here to find out the right way to house and care for her!!! ;)

Definately leave her to settle in as moving is stressful for them.

Your post has reminded me of a female veiled in the pet shop where I buy my locusts from.

Cage is NOT ideal for her and she's been there for a year :( Very little foliage, all fake, big logs rather than climbing branches...she doesn't get misted, just has a water bowl with a ceramic heater above it.

She's an awful dark and dingey colour and always has bits of shed skin still stuck to her. Locusts in there always hitching a ride on her back and stressing her out.

I could cry every time I go in and I realise someone hasn't given her a home.

I haven't the first clue when it comes to veilds, PLUS I don't have the money to buy her and everything she'd need at the moment, otherwise I'd snap her up and give her the loving home she deserves. Will try and get some pics of her when I'm next in there.

Poor little girl :(

I'm also wary when it comes to rescues!!! The dog I rescued bit my husband and killed my guinea pigs...the horse I rescued try to kill me, but only succeeded in fracturing my spine!!!

Anyway, sorry to hijack ur thread. I wish you good luck with Lilly and I'm sure your giving her a new home will mean many rewards for her and you!!! :D

Keep us updated with pics once she's settled in.

Glad to hear u had adopted a new child. It's good u were able to get her out of that samll small cage. She feels free and able to roam now probably. If u have a busy schedule too u might want to look in to getting a MistKing automatic misting system. They really do work wonders and can help u out when ur not home. U can pick up a starter kit for around$110 with shipping. Was truly one of the best investment I have ever made for my cham. Also a drip system is a must but doesn't fulfill all of the watering needs like the MistKing. It puts outran awesome little gentle mist that my Cham absolutely loves. Also don't forget her vitmanins, they r deffinetly required and all three. They are the reptical calcium, calcium with d3, and the multivitamin. U probably already know this but just wanted to double check because that is one of the biggest mistakes new Cham owners forget. Well good luck and if u have any question don't be affraid to ask.

Linda you are doing a wonderful job with Lily. After all that she has been put through, she is going to be just great. Bet every one will be asking about silicone for a dripper. You know i do things different, but it works for me.:)
