Meet Burt! my baby Leopard Tortoise

I just got him (maybe her) at the expo last weekend and I could not be more in love. He is the cutest sweetest little guy ever. He's only 2 months old. He's so teeny tiny. He loves cruising all over my house, he's always on the run. My cat is getting very interested in him. She lost interest in my beardie I think because the beardie was a little too hands on for her. She'd always try climbing up her back which the cat did not like. But with Burt I think she sees him as a fragile little baby and she's always got an eye on him. She even gave him a little pat on the butt to help him off the rug lol. The cat is almost 11 years old, extremely sweet and gentle and yes the baby tortoise is 100% supervised. I'm hoping they will be good friends for the rest of her life (since he'll still be a baby by the time she's gone). Anyways, ramble ramble ramble. I love my new baby!

Erm... careful. I'd bet $$$ that the "pat on the bum" was exploratory predatory behaviour. Additionally, reptiles can carry disease and parasites that can make mammals like cats (and us) very ill, and vice versa. Age is not a barrier to predation or the spread of disease. Still, they are your pets and it's your risk... but please consider, it's their lives.

On another note...

AHHHHHHH he's so cute I can't even! How. How are baby tortoises so adorable?? My heart can't take it. What's his name?

Well I know my cat fairly well and I'm really not concerned about her with him. That being said, I'm with them the entire time and she mostly just sits on the couch with me and watches him. I have another cat who is 2 and he's not allowed in the house while the baby's out because I know him too and I know he's just a tasty little toy to him.
His name is Burt. My mom got one too and hers is Ernie. Eventually Ernie will be mine obviously since he will way out live her. They'll outlive me too so Hopefully my future children like tortoises :). My mom's is the runt lol

So you won't mind the furniture moving around while you're at work during the day? Given good care and time that may be what you get unless your little one gets to live outdoors!

I have a bird-keeper friend in southern CA who had two big (about 100 lbs) self propelled lawnmowers (1 sulcata and 1 leopard) of his own. He finally gave them to a breeder as he got tired of them breaking down the yard gate and shoving his vintage Porsche around in the garage. Either that or they ended up resting on the hot asphalt road by their house like large speed bumps.
