MEALYBUGS on my plants

The plants in Rebels habitat (hibiscus tree and a Pothos) now have mealybugs. I read online that you can spray plants with a mixture of 1 part rubbing alcohol and 4 parts water to get rid of them and spray once a week to prevent re-infestation. Would this be safe to do inside of Rebels cage or would I need to remove the plants to spray them? He really doesn't like when I move things around in his cage and pouts every time I do a deep clean and move things around so I want to do this with as little stress as possible for him.

Thanks

Yes, either soak the plants in the mixture or spray them heavily with the stuff. Mealies are tough critters, pure rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab works great, but its quite tedious when it's on regular house plants :) I would completely take the plants out of his cage and treat. They can be tough to get rid of.
